COVERS:

Dade, Broward, Collier and Lee Counties in Florida. Other Florida counties and other states, please add transportation, hotel accommodations and meals.

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of Grupo CAÑAVERAL's middle and high school concerts are to teach students inter-cultural awareness; to allow students to understand that Hispanic American  music goes beyond and merengue; to perform music from the Hispanic American countries; to widen the musical options and perspectives of students; to present the cultural forces that are responsible for shaping Hispanic American music;to help develop in the student a sense of respect for ethnicity and ethnic manifestations.

ACTIVITIES:

Grupo CAÑAVERAL's middle and high school concerts include presenting traditional Hispanic American music in Spanish with explanations in English; investigating the historical background of Hispanic American music; demonstrating different Hispanic American folk instruments; learning about the social impact of Hispanic American music; audience participation.

DURATION and SCHEDULING:

Up to two 40 minute shows or one 75-minute show) to be held in the auditorium, (not outside, please!) before lunchtime.
